Occupational health examination
A medical examination is mandatory for certain professions and industries. These are professions where (parts of) the work may pose a risk to the health of the employee themselves and/or to others in the work environment. Examples of such examinations are:
- soil remediation inspections;
- Asbestos inspection;
- breathing air tests;
- driver/driver's license examinations.
Inspection as a legal obligation
The purpose of the examination is to determine whether the employee, in the case of periodic examinations, or the prospective employee, in the case of a pre-employment examination, is medically capable of performing the required work safely. The content of the examination is always based on the medical requirements associated with the high-risk tasks involved in the job. The content of the examination may therefore vary depending on the profession. For many sectors, the content of the examination is laid down in the relevant guidelines.
